Aerial view of Neuf-BrisachNeuf-Brisach
A fortress built at the end of the 17th century by Vauban by order of Louis XIV, Neuf-Brisach's octogonal star-shaped design carved its place in history books as a model defensive system of its time. Erected as a sign of power, the star of Neuf-Brisach appears, nowadays, to symbolise one of the stars of the European flag. The Vauban museum, the locks of the Grand Canal d'Alsace, the Ile du Rhin and the charm of the forest La Hardt (upper Rhine Valley) are some more of the attractions which Neuf-Brisach offers to its visitors.
