Founded in 1960 on the initiative of Joseph Rey, a former mayor of Colmar and one of the greatest advocates of the French-German reconciliation, the Green Route was and still is a milestone on the way to a United Europe. The Green Route shows the bonds of a friendship between the people of the Vosges, Alsace and the Black Forest. Everywhere along the Green Route you may find impressive historico-cultural places.
